Homeowner Apathy? Consider These Helpful Tips For Boosting Involvement
If you are one of the many HOAs that find getting your homeowners involved in the community to be a challenging task, don’t fret! With a little time and effort, you can encourage community involvement. Consider incorporating these helpful tips to get homeowners involved in the Association community:
- One of the most effective ways to communicate with your Board Members and homeowners is through newsletters. This is not only the greenest form of communication, but it will also show how much you value their involvement in the community. However, be sure to keep your newsletter short and straight to the point.
- Rather than making all of your communications serious, set up some fun social gatherings. This is a great way to encourage bonding amongst community members. If your community has a pool and lounge area, consider hosting barbecues for all of the major holidays. You can also do group tennis matches in the fitness center of your community.
- Board members and homeowners prefer to be informed of what is going on in their community, so hosting board meetings is an effective strategy in getting your homeowners involved both in relationships with other community members and in the community’s overall wellbeing.
- If all else fails and you feel that you still have homeowner apathy, you may want to hold a mandatory meeting, implementing “crisis level” tactics. This strategy should be considered as a last resort.
